Education: STEM Summer Programs

It’s summer and time for camps and other fun activities.  Why not include STEM in your summer plans? Libraries around the country are participating in a program called “Fizz, Boom, Read!”  It takes your awesome Summer Reading Program and adds elements of science and technology to amp it up!  Some libraries even include activity programs where your child can build a rocket or use a 3D printer.

At the Brooklyn Public Library, Carmelo the Science Fellow put together a program with books, rocket building and even a “Print Your Own Toy” station using a Makerbot 3D printer.

Here in TROBO’s hometown of Orlando, the Orange County Public Library System has a number of camps and science programs, in addition to their own “Fizz Boom Read” program where kids can win prizes for reading.
